He couldn't quite believe it.

  1. It was a grand occasion, and how well our boys did - fantastic.
Mark Cavendish was so lovely whilst he was being interviewed, he could not stop kissing his baby. He had obviously missed her an enormous amount, you could see he adored her.

    1. I have enjoyed the whole thing so much this year, and not just because of the Brit success. I think I might be at a bit of a loss over the next few days. J.

  3. Wonderful achievement by the whole team.
I wonder if the TV channels will give more time to cycling now?

    1. I understand there is to be a new hour long weekly cycling programme on ITV4 in the UK. It will also be interesting to see if the olympic cycling now gets a higher profile... I'm sure it will in the UK. J.

  4. These are fantastic photos, Janice - did I understand correctly you photographed them from the tv? They are excellent and really capture the emotion and joy of the occasion for the two Brits. We watched coverage of the final leg here - couldn't resist that - and really enjoyed it. The Tour de Spain comes through Alcala la Real, so I do understand the build up, the wait, the anticipation - and the WHIZZ - as there they were, gone!
I'm sure you find some other delight to focus on now le Tour has ended.

    1. yes, I took the photos as I was glued to the TV and was pleased with the way they came out. I like the abstract feel to the union jacks one at the end. We jokingly arranged to meet up next year with the French family we shared our day with last week, when the tour went through Chalabre. We said.... same tree, same time next year. There is no way it will be the same route next year....but I do intend to go to at least 2 stages next year. I am sure I'll find plenty to occupy myself with now it is over. We have some athletic tickets for the olympics, so will be popping back to the UK for a few days. That will seem strange after 3 months out here. Anyway, have a good holiday, and enjoy the internet free time.....and remember how it used to be. Lots of love Janice xxxx

    1. I bet you've been reading about it in your newspaper though Perpetua. I have enjoyed reading the French version of each stage. It has involved some useful new vocabulary for me ! J.
